The client

Founded by Clayton Bench in 2022, BXJ Technologies provides managed IT services in Denver and Wyoming. Its website was a five to seven page brochure site with no blog, no store, and no client logins.

The challenge

The site ran on WordPress, which meant paying for plugin and core updates, a theme license, PHP hosting, security monitoring, and backup management. That overhead delivered little value for a site whose content rarely changed and didn’t need to be dynamic, and updates sometimes caused breakage.

Clayton wanted a site that was fast, professional, and close to maintenance-free, without a recurring bill just to keep the lights on.

Approach

We rebuilt the site from scratch as a custom React single-page application. Vite compiles it into static HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files that Nginx serves directly from a DigitalOcean VPS, with no PHP, no database, and no plugins to update. The new site grew to 13 pages, loads fast, and has a much smaller attack surface.

Process

Discover & Align

Assessed BXJ’s WordPress site and found the mismatch: a static brochure site carrying the maintenance overhead of a full CMS, with no publishing need to justify it.

Design & Build

Rebuilt the site as a custom React 19 application with Vite, Tailwind CSS v4, and React Router in 2 to 3 days of development, covering all 13 pages, including local SEO landing pages and lead capture forms.

Review & Refine

Connected and configured the launch integrations: Google Analytics 4, live Google Reviews, reCAPTCHA v3, Mailgun, Calendly, HubSpot, and TCPA-compliant SMS consent.

Launch & Support

Provisioned a DigitalOcean VPS with Nginx, Let’s Encrypt SSL, a UFW firewall, and Cloudflare in front, plus a deploy pipeline from GitHub that pushes changes live in under 60 seconds.

Outcome

  • Live at bxjtech.com since April 2026 with 13 pages, three owned forms, Calendly booking, analytics tracking, and live Google Reviews.
  • No plugin, core, theme, PHP, or database update cycle. Upkeep is limited to routine server and dependency updates.
  • Content and code changes go live in under 60 seconds.
  • Lower total cost over 12 to 24 months than keeping a CMS for a site that does not need one.

Why it mattered

For a brochure site that rarely changes, WordPress was costing BXJ time and money without adding anything the business used. Matching the platform to how the site is actually used removed the plugin, core, and theme update cycle entirely, lowered long-term cost, and gave BXJ a faster, more secure marketing website that ships changes in under a minute. It is the question at the start of every site migration we take on: what does this site actually need to do?
